Who it's for

Applying for Spanish residency or an NIE, registering a foreign marriage or birth certificate, or submitting a foreign degree for homologación? A sworn translation is usually a mandatory step, not an optional extra — and the receiving office won't accept a translation from just anyone.

Certified & Sworn Translation FAQ

We can confirm the translation is genuinely sworn — completed by a translator appointed under the MAEC framework, signed and, if you choose, stamped on paper. We can't confirm the specific acceptance rules of a foreign consulate, university or civil registry we haven't seen requirements for; check with the receiving office what form they need (digital or paper) before you choose your delivery format.

Only if your original document was issued outside Spain and the receiving country requires one. The apostille is a separate step performed on the original document, usually before translation, by the issuing country's competent authority. If you're not sure, add apostille handling (+€65) at checkout and we'll advise on your specific document.

The digital signed PDF carries a signature block and is accepted by most digital submission systems. The stamped paper copy is a wet-ink-stamped physical original, typically required by civil registries, courts and some consulates — it costs €9.50 in handling plus your chosen delivery method.

Sworn translation is billed per page with a one-page (€38.00) minimum — a short document is never split into a fraction of a page.

Spanish ⇄ English is our core sworn pair. Other European languages are available on request — tell us the pair when you configure your order, or use /quote/ if you don't see it listed.

Report it within 14 days of delivery and we'll re-work any demonstrable error in the translation free of charge. Once a sworn translation has been stamped and issued, it can't be refunded (it's a signed, personalised legal instrument) — but a genuine error is corrected at no cost.
